Noel Murphy > musician/digital artist/tinkerer
After graduating from Nottingham Trent University in 1999 Noel formed the band Wauvenfold and signed to Wichita records and EMI publishing. Wauvenfolds work was mainly concerned with electronic rhythm's formed from found sounds of mechanical devices. The band gained high recognition in the experimental music scene, playing for John Peel, the V&A museum and being the first band to ever play in Gateshead's Baltic center. Wauvenfold have also remixed a handful of prestigious bands including The Super Furry Animals.
In 2003 Noel began a new project under the banner of bury&disinter. This ongoing project explores live improvisation techniques and generative composition. Often working in more of a gallery context this project has encompassed collaborative pieces with both musicians ( ISAN ), contemporary dance ( Kerryn Wise ) and interactive installations. bury&disinter has also released several recordings on the Tokyo based art-house label DuoTone.
Since 2005 Noel has been hard at work on supplying projection based digital media solutions for artists and performers. Noel has recently completed a tour of England and Scotland providing projection and technical services to comedian Paul Merton for his Silent Clowns tour.
