The cascade sequencer is another experiment in generative music composition. Using the Cantor set as inspiration the sequencer allows high levels of complexity to develop from a very small amount of input.

More Processing based procrastinating, but this time in 3d with a little help from the openGL library. Gallery after the jump...
Lazy Sunday afternoon spent tinkering with image maps, gallery after the jump...
A few experiments of recursive drawing and L-systems.... These techniques allow for the creation of generative organic'esq forms that i find really visually satisfying. I have mainly been using Context Free software to explore this field. Hit the jump for some video....
The Surround Panner was created for a multimedia show by the band Cipher. As the show was to take place in a cinema they wanted to make use of the surround system in the venue. To this end I built a Pd patch that allows the user to move 2 channels of sound around a 4 speaker set-up individually using joystick controls.

Skuffle is an installation commissioned by the birobox workshop project. Birobox perform music using live sampling, loop pedals etc... I wanted to make a piece that would reflect this method of working in some way...
The result is Skuffle, software that remix's live audio inputs.
The Skuffle program consists of 3 samplers and 3 sequencers, each sampler grabs a new sound from an input (in this case sounds captured from the main room of the event, mainly bands and DJ's) and plays this sample back according to its sequencer.
The sequencers themselves combine a few methods for generative composition.

The b&d looper was created as a performance tool for my bury&disinter live shows. The core of the programe was developed with Tom Betts and then slowly altered and "enhanced" by myself over the years.
The actual patch is made up of 4 loopers, each one of these operates pretty much like an old fashioned tape echo unit, balancing the level of feedback creates the infinate loop. Each looper is tied into the same clock so they stay in sync, although this can be dissabled allowing all sorts of Steve Reich phase music shenanigans.
